Alena Fontaine, that’s me. I am a Midwife and proud Mother of five, dedicated to honoring and amplifying the sacred work of birth. I completed my Midwifery Studies at Midwife College of Utah. My clinical training was guided by three midwives who are true pillars in their communities. I have supported families across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
My path into Birth Work began in 2020 after reading Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life. That book sparked a profound shift, a personal rebirth that guided me toward birth work. At first I felt as though my past had been erased, but I came to see that every experience had been preparing me for this calling.
Stark Light Midwifery is the expression of that rebirth. The name reflects the illumination that comes when we empower ourselves through knowledge, community, and trust. It also carries the lineage of my great-grandmother, who was a midwife in Haiti. Discovering this family history affirmed that this work is truly a gift passed down through ancestral hands.
In the birth space, I bring a calm, peaceful presence and grounded wisdom. My role is transformative: to hold space, offer evidence-based care, and help families welcome their babies with confidence and love.
